Overview

American University is a  private research university located in Washington, DC. The University comprises eight divisions which are referred to as colleges or schools: College of Arts and Sciences, School of International Service, Kogod School of Business, Professional Studies and Executive Education, School of Communication, School of Public Affairs, Washington College of Law, and School of Education. It offers over 160 programs that include 71 bachelor's degrees, around 87 master's degrees and ten doctoral degrees.

There are over 13,000 students at American University, and a fifth of them are international students hailing from over 141 countries. American University is classified among "R2: Doctoral Universities" with high research activity. It is also one of the best universities in the USA for study abroad programs. The university operates three premier programs in Belgium, Spain and Nairobi, apart from having partnerships with other universities across the globe, including the London School of Economics, University of Warwick, Peking University, Sorbonne University, and Balsillie School of International Affairs, among others.

Accommodation

Housing options are provided by American University through on-campus and off-campus services. Most freshman and sophomore students take the on-campus accommodations, and first-year students are not required to live on campus.
