Overview

Jacksonville University is a private educational institution that is located in the Arlington district of Jacksonville city. It was founded in 1934 as a two-year college known as Jackson Junior College, but in 1956 it shifted focus to building four-year university degree programs. Currently, JU is a comprehensive university that offers more than 100 undergraduate majors, minors and over 20 graduate degree options to students.

The university has a strong focus on experiential learning and offers many opportunities for students to gain practical experience in their chosen fields of study. Jacksonville University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and has several specialized accreditations for its programs, such as the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs.

Services for International Students

With a diverse student population coming from all 50 states and more than 70 countries, the university ensures that they are given all the necessary resources and support services. The Office of Student Affairs and the Office of Internation Student Services take care of visas, social security, and other important aspects. Career resources and professional development give the necessary guidance to students apart from an Academic Resources team. Other health and counselling services are also available to students.

Accommodation

The university offers on-campus housing through four residence halls and a Village Apartment. Most residence halls have shared room occupancy options, whereas apartment-style housing has single rooms in an apartment for up to four students.
