Tulane University is one of the private research universities that is located in New Orleans, Louisiana. It was founded in 1834 by seven young medical doctors as the Medical College of Louisiana and became a comprehensive university in 1847. Tulane University has been a part of the Association of American Universities since 1958 and has been classified as "R1: Doctoral Universities, with Very high research activity. 

The university is organised into ten schools imparting high-quality education in liberal arts, sciences, and specialised professional programs. All the undergraduate students are enrolled in Newcomb-Tulane College, while the graduate students are in specific schools.

The university has over 200-student run clubs and organisations on campus that are central to the curriculum and make the entire experience of students enjoyable. They can also go to the Reply Student Recreation Centre and the on-campus gym to maintain their fitness, while other counselling services are helpful in dealing with mental health issues that may arise while they study at the university.
